Navigation on the Ottawa River temporarily interrupted

Hydro Québec Press Release :

Gatineau, November 6, 2020 – The work required to rebuild a segment of the 120‑kV Bryson–Chenaux line is going well and we plan on finalizing it by the end of the month of November in the MRC of Pontiac. The public has been informed that navigation on the river will be interrupted from November 10 to 19, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., so that Hydro-Québec can install the new cables above the Rivière des Outaouais (Ottawa River). Last September, Hydro-Québec dismantled the cables above the river and also had to interrupt the navigation for a short period of time. “To ensure the safety of the workers and river users, guards will again be present on the river,” noted Alain Paquette, Advisor – Community Relations at Hydro-Québec.

Commissioned in 1941, this line starts at Bryson generating station switchyard and connects to Hydro One facilities in Ontario. The project involves rebuilding a 1.6-km line segment located in the Litchfield industrial park. The work is required due to the degree of deterioration and age of the line.

Hydro-Québec asks residents to exercise caution near the jobsite.
